Getting Back on Track After Long Hiatus

You've set your goals. Trained hard. Achieved some of it. And then you took a rest. Now the rest took longer than expected and suddenly it hit you. You became the old self who once wanted to go fit. Whatever the reason of that extended period of rest, which, may vary from each person - it may be because of injury, getting busy from work, a hectic schedule which squeezing time to work out was hard or giving birth, you just couldn't go back the way you wanted it. Yes, we all experience this at some point and getting back on track is easier said than done. So how can you cope up on this?

Here are some tips to take off that rustiness you've incurred during hiatus.

1. When going back, you need to consult a physician so you will know which one fits your system and not. Safety first before anything else. There might be some exercise programs that should be avoided.
2. Go train as a beginner again! You can't go back to where you left off thinking that, "Hey, I've done this before, I can do it again!" In most cases you won't be able to do it or if ever you did, it may lead to serious injury. Doing too much too soon can harm you than do good.
3. Take it slowly, be patient, it's not a race, you got to think of it as a lifestyle and not just targeting for a specific time only.
4. Don't impose high demand to yourself, it will only frustrate you if things don't go well in your timeframe which will cause loss of desire to workout.
5. Give your body time to re-adapt. Start on lighter weights and cardio training. Build yourself up gradually. Eventually your body will catch up what you've had before.
6. If you've just recovered from injury and wanted to return, choose one exercise that will painlessly affect your rehabilitating muscle.
7. Enjoy the time when you're working out.

Keep You Body Cool During Workout To Shed Off More Pounds

By keeping your body cool during workout, you can stay longer and do more sets and repetitions and do more exercise programs. You can also workout harder because you're not exhausted from a humid weather. According to Len Kravitz, PhD, coordinator of exercise science at the University of New Mexico, “Being too hot stresses your body out, so you don’t perform as well.”. It means that you burn less fat. So he suggests that you should have a fan at your work out place to at least cool you up.The cooler your body is, the more exercise you can perform, and the more you perform, the more calories you burn.

Realistic Outlook For Your Resolutions

Now that you're ready to do the exercise, you must first have a realistic outlook on what you would like. Would it be for your health, for weight loss, for muscle building, for your strength and performance in sports or for your appearance? You should know these factors because not achieving it might only disappoint you and discontinue working out. Just as what most people do as their resolution every year, like for example if they want to lose weight, ever wonder why every year it's on their number one list again and again? It's because once they get disappointed when things didn't turn out well at the start they stop the program, and will just do workouts again for the following year. You should know that it's not that fast in achieving what you want with your body, it requires time and effort. It's not a one click solution. Say you're into muscle building, there are certain people who don’t grow muscles fast compared to others, genes also play a major part here so don't get disappointed when you see one getting big fast. You may not get big now but in time you will, and notice your strength, at least you can now lift heavier weights compared when you have just started. Do it regularly, with good rest plus good food intake and you'll see great results.
